“Working” Your Brain

A recent study in the journal Neurology shows that a mentally challenging job may help protect memory and thinking skills as we age. The study included over 1000 participants age 75 and over. The research finds that those whose jobs required them to perform more complicated tasks, such as analyzing data and resolving conflicts, showed half the rate of cognitive decline over an 8-year follow-up period compared to those whose work was less mentally demanding.

So, “work” your brain now so it will still work for you later.
